World's Highest Bridge Opens in China: Huajiang Grand Canyon's Glass Walkways and Sky-High Coffee Shop
The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, the world's highest, has opened to the public. Spanning 9,777 feet, it offers stunning views and unique attractions, including a glass walkway and a sky-high coffee shop.
The bridge, with a main span of 4,660 feet, connects a mountainous region, providing a practical route. Its construction involved rigorous load testing with multiple vehicles and advanced wind management techniques to ensure stability.
Visitors can enjoy a glass walkway, 1,900 feet above the canyon, for a thrilling perspective. The bridge also boasts a glass elevator that ascends to a coffee shop lookout, 2,600 feet above the river. For adrenaline seekers, plans are underway for bungee jumping, skydiving, and paragliding at the site.
A notable feature is the smart cable system, installed during the three-year construction. It uses fiber optic sensors to monitor tension, temperature, and humidity in real-time, ensuring the bridge's longevity. This innovative health monitoring system was inaugurated on September 28, after achieving millimeter precision at a height of 600 meters.
The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, standing at 2,051 feet above the canyon floor, offers not just a route but an experience. With its unique attractions and innovative smart cable system, it promises to be a sustainable and thrilling destination for years to come.
