Veteran Educator Marina Pal'kina Honored With Prestigious Medal

Marina Alekseevna Pal'kina, the dedicated director of the Gifted Children's Lyceum of the Republic of Komi, has been bestowed the prestigious Medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree. This high honour recognises her exceptional service and long-standing commitment to education over four decades. She began as a mathematics teacher 40 years ago, graduating from the Komi State Pedagogical Institute, now known as the Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute. In 1991, she took the helm of the Lyceum for Gifted Children from Rural Areas, a role she has held ever since. Under her leadership, the Lyceum has flourished, undergoing a significant renovation seven years ago and opening a city branch. Today, over 4,000 of its graduates contribute positively to the region, excelling in their respective fields. Pal'kina views the medal not just as a personal accolade, but as a testament to the collective efforts of the Lyceum's staff and students. Notably, many of the institution's teachers are its own graduates, reflecting the Lyceum's commitment to nurturing talent. Pal'kina, herself, comes from a family with four generations of teachers, making her award a proud family legacy. Marina Alekseevna Pal'kina's Medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree, is a well-deserved recognition of her outstanding labour achievements and many years of dedicated service. She feels a sense of awe and increased responsibility, ready to continue guiding the Lyceum and its students towards further success.
