Tour of OB Keck by Reutlinger Kindergarten: Celebrating Four Anniversaries and a Rebirth

In the heart of Reutlingen, the city's kindergartens continue to thrive, offering a nurturing environment for children of all ages. Recently, Mayor Thomas Keck paid a visit to five of these vibrant institutions, each with its unique charm and character.

The Dirnäckerweg Children's House, celebrating its 50th anniversary, is a bustling hub for both the younger and older children in Ohmenhausen. The connection to their district runs deep, as they regularly participate in local events and activities. The children particularly enjoy picking strawberries from the vegetable garden, which also grows cucumbers, watermelons, tomatoes, and pumpkins.

The Dirnäckerweg Children's House is not the only kindergarten in Reutlingen marking a significant milestone. The Heinestraße children's house, operating for 25 years, caters to around 70 children. The mayor was particularly impressed with the garden at the Heinestraße children's house.

Meanwhile, the children's house Römersteinstraße in Sondelfingen, which has been operating for 25 years, boasts a climbing frame called "castle" in its adjacent garden. The terrace at this kindergarten caught the mayor's eye during his visit.

The children's house Planie 30, located in a villa from 1887, has recently reopened after a comprehensive renovation. The three-storey building now welcomes three to six-year-olds, offering play areas in the movement room, studio, and library. The library, with its large windows facing the garden, is particularly popular.

A sound tree, a combination of a marble run and a sound game, will be added to the pedagogical offering at the children's house Planie 30. This innovative addition is sure to provide hours of engaging play for the children.

The Hermann-Ehlers-Straße kindergarten, also celebrating its 50th anniversary, welcomes around 50 children aged three and above.

Mayor Keck emphasized the importance of visiting kindergartens on their anniversaries, as each one is unique and has its own needs. While the current childcare situation in Reutlingen, including any potential shortages of qualified childcare personnel or efforts to maintain affordable kindergarten fees, was not the focus of these visits, it is a topic of ongoing discussion and concern in many regions across Germany.

The Dirnäckerweg Children's House, in celebrating its 50th anniversary, is not only a hub for children's learning and play but also an integral part of its community, regularly participating in local events and activities. The sound tree, a new addition to the library at the Planie 30 children's house, promises to enhance their education-and-self-development by offering an innovative and engaging play experience.
