Tomsk Oblast & Bashkortostan Sign Deal to Boost High-Tech Industries

Tomsk Oblast and Bashkortostan have signed a cooperation agreement to boost their high-tech industries. The deal, inked at the XXVIII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, aims to create interregional production chains and promote technological solutions together.

Tomsk Oblast, which recently opened the largest scientific and production center for unmanned aerial systems east of the Urals, is set to collaborate with Bashkortostan in several key areas. These include remote Earth sensing, communications, and navigation, as agreed between Governor Vladimir Mazur and Roscosmos Head Dmitry Rogozin.

Both regions, actively developing oil and gas, chemical industries, and UAV production, will work together to create comprehensive programs for training and retraining personnel. They also plan to implement projects for effective import substitution in the oil and gas sector and innovative technologies.

Tomsk's special economic zone and Bashkortostan's preferential regimes for high-tech production will facilitate this cooperation. The Tomsk Institute of High-Current Electronics has already shown success working with Bashkir company 'Farus' in producing higher fatty alcohols. The first interregional production chains are planned to be established by October 2025.

The agreement between Tomsk Oblast and Bashkortostan signals a commitment to strengthening their high-tech industries through collaboration. By combining their strengths, the two regions aim to create innovative solutions and boost their economies.
