Thriving Business Enterprise
The Pooling project, relaunched last year, aims to provide reliable support for students with special needs and create more equal opportunities in schools. Two models of the Pooling approach are currently being tested: the Performance Triangle model and the Infrastructure model.
In the Performance Triangle model, individual performances are still granted based on the children's needs upon application. However, school companions can be flexibly deployed to assist several children of the same school. Schools participating in this model include the Flurstraße Primary School, Richardstraße Primary School, Wicherngrund School, and others.
On the other hand, the Infrastructure model offers a different approach. Schools receive a fixed budget for the entire school year to deploy a certain number of school companions and distribute them among the children. This model is being tested at the Sonnenstraße Primary School, Theodor-Heuss Primary School, St. Appolinaris Primary School, Gumbertstraße Primary School, and Theodor-Andresen Special School.
One of the schools participating in the Infrastructure model test phase is the Familiengrundschulzentrum at Sonnenstraße in Oberbilk. Headmaster Kornelius Knettel, a project partner, emphasizes that the Pooling model simplifies their organization and provides more opportunities to address the actual needs of the children.
Parents do not need to submit individual applications in the Infrastructure model, as the providers plan the deployments based on the budget and the school's needs. This model also offers advantages for school companions, allowing them to work more closely together, exchange experiences, and be more integrated into school life.
The Pooling project initially started at eight schools, including seven primary schools and one special school. As the project continues to grow, it is expected to provide more support to students with special needs, making work at schools easier and creating more equal opportunities for all.
