Temporary Relocation of Bremer Primary School in Gröpelingen: Construction Delay Leads to Mobile School Solution - Training Proceeding as Arranged
The Bremen Environmental Authority is preparing the outdoor facilities at a mobile building on Ritterhuder Heerstraße during the summer holidays, as the school authority has been forced to find an alternative solution for the first graders due to construction delays at the new Grundschule Gröpelingen on Schiffbauerweg.
The works on the mobile building are expected to be completed by the first week of August, and it will then serve as a temporary home for the school until construction is completed at Schiffbauerweg. The new school, which is being converted from an office building opposite the Waterfront shopping center, will not open on time for the 2023/24 school year.
The issue delaying the opening of Grundschule Gröpelingen is related to fire safety regulations and the landlord's lack of necessary evidence. However, the landlord is providing the required evidence to obtain a partial occupancy permit. It is estimated that the school can move into Schiffbauerweg during the autumn holidays in 2024.
On June 26, 2023, the Bremen Building Authority (Bauaufsichtsbehörde Bremen) suspended construction at the new school on Schiffbauerweg, and since then, efforts have been made to relocate the school to a different site by the start of the 2023/24 school year.
The school furniture that has already been ordered will be redirected to the new temporary location. A bus transfer will be arranged for approximately 50 future students, and the parents of the future students have been informed about the temporary change.
Despite the temporary relocation, the school will continue operations as usual, and the enrollment ceremony is planned to take place as planned on August 10th. The interim solution will allow the school to start the academic year without any significant disruptions.
The Bremen Environmental Authority is working diligently to ensure that the outdoor facilities at the mobile building are ready for the school's arrival, aiming to provide a comfortable and safe learning environment for the students during the temporary stay.
