New Rector at Saxon Police Academy Starts August

Say goodbye to Viktor Nerlich, as he steps down from his role as Rector at the Saxon Police Academy in Rothenburg (district of Görlitz). The interior ministry announced that Stefan Dörner, a seasoned police director, will take over the position in August.

Professor Nerlich, who's leaving for personal reasons, has been instrumental in driving the study and training reform launched in 2022 at the Police University of Applied Sciences. Additionally, he spearheaded the initiative towards future organizational development, aiming to fostering university partnerships. Interior Minister Armin Schuster (CDU) noted, "Prof. Nerlich demonstrated a remarkable level of commitment during a critical period for the Police University."

Stepping into Nerlich's shoes, Stefan Dörner is a decorated figure within the Saxon police force, making him an excellent choice for the rectorship, according to the ministry. More details about Dörner's background and achievements within the police academy remain to be seen. We'll bring you updates as they become available. (dpa)

Stefan Dörner, the new Rector at Saxon Police Academy, has demonstrated a strong commitment to education-and-self-development throughout his career in the Saxon police force.
