Augsburg, Germany, is set to host a unique youth project titled "Change in" from 2 to 9 November 2025. This volunteer action, part of the "Alliance for Augsburg", involves young people from the 8th and 9th grades of all school types. The project aims to foster international friendship and discuss ways to live together in a good and fair manner.

The "Change in" project prominently features exchange student programs that encourage cross-cultural understanding. For instance, the hosting of exchange students from the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg by international institutions is a common occurrence. These programs aim to promote mutual understanding among young people through educational and cultural immersion.

Similar initiatives focused on international friendship and cultural exchange include Gallaudet University’s Exchange Visitor Program, which hosts international researchers, scholars, and students in the U.S., and Youth-led organizations like BridgeUSA, which foster intercultural communication on campuses. Various international exchange programs and university initiatives in Germany and beyond also contribute to these efforts.

Last year, Augsburg hosted the first conference titled "Spaces for Youth!", bringing together representatives of youth, associations, clubs, and initiatives, as well as representatives of the city administration, to discuss how to provide more spaces for young people in Augsburg. The conference focused on playgrounds, football pitches, skate parks, youth centers, and other similar spaces for young people in Augsburg. A video recording of the conference is available for all interested parties.

The Stadtjugendring is the carrier of open youth work and youth information in Augsburg. For children, young people, parents, teachers, and multipliers seeking information about offers of children and youth work in Augsburg, there's the platform "wer?wo?was?". For holiday trips for children and young people in Augsburg and abroad, the website www.tip-ferieninfo.de provides valuable information.

In addition, the city of Augsburg is organizing a youth project with young people from Germany and Ukraine. The city is looking for ten young people aged 16 to 21 who are keen to work with young people from Ukraine, enjoy speaking English, and want to join the return visit to France in 2026. Applications for the project can be submitted via a video, voice message, or the contact form, with the deadline for applications being 15 August 2025.

Lastly, the Augsburger Volunteer Exchange is a platform where interested citizens can find opportunities to engage in youth work, and where youth organizations can search for new engaged people for their work.

The "Change in" project is just one of the many initiatives in Augsburg that strive to connect young individuals internationally through structured study, research, and dialogue, building friendships and cultural awareness across borders.
