In a shocking turn of events, Matthew Kargol, a high school art teacher from Oskaloosa, Iowa, has found himself out of a job following a controversial Facebook post. The post, which was published on September 10, caused a stir both locally and nationally.

The post, a black screen with the words "1 Nazi Down," seemed to reference the recent passing of Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative figure. The school district initiated an investigation into the matter on the same day, and concerned and frustrated parents began contacting the school district to voice their concerns.

The incident has received state-wide attention and similar cases have occurred across the nation and the Tri-States. Iowa Representative Miller-Meeks took to social media to call for immediate action, expressing her disapproval of the post.

The school board met on September 17 to discuss and vote on the termination of Kargol's continuing contract. The entire school board voted in favour of terminating Kargol, ending his tenure at the Oskaloosa Community School District.

KTVO will continue to cover this story as things unfold. The school district is expressing its gratitude to the community for being understanding as it navigates the situation quickly. It is important to note that as of September 2022, another teacher, Amanda Elkjer, was also terminated by the school district due to a similar controversial Facebook post.

As the community moves forward, it is hoped that such incidents can be avoided in the future, fostering a more positive and respectful learning environment for all students.
