RCC Honors Community Leaders at Champions of Change Celebration
The Rockland Community College (RCC) Foundation is set to host its annual Champions of Change Celebration on October 16. This event will honour three notable community leaders: Steven H. Porath, Susan Oelkers-Ramos, and JPMorganChase, for their significant contributions to Rockland County. The celebration will also feature live music, a wine pull, and showcases of RCC's Hospitality and Culinary Arts program, along with Visual and Performing Arts students.
JPMorganChase is being recognised for its longstanding commitment to Rockland and its innovative Money Smart Financial Coaching Program. Steven H. Porath is being honoured for driving billions of dollars in investment and creating thousands of local jobs through strategic economic development and workforce training. Susan Oelkers-Ramos is being recognised for her dedication to education, mentorship, and community enrichment, including founding the RCC President's Society in 2020.
The event will be hosted by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County and the Rockland Youth Empowerment Center, with Rene Rodriguez of New City Florist as the long-time supporter being honoured. Benefactor tickets are priced at $200, general admission at $125, with sponsorship and advertising opportunities available. Manuel Martínez, Ph.D., President of Dominican University New York, has been elected to the Rockland Businesses Association (RBA) Board of Directors.
All proceeds raised during the Champions of Change Celebration will directly support RCC students through the Foundation. The event promises to be an engaging evening of recognition, entertainment, and community spirit.
