Prominent Attorney Joshua House Joins FIRE to Defend Free Expression
Joshua House, a prominent attorney recognized for his work on constitutional cases and free expression, has joined the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) as a new staff member. Based in FIRE's D.C. office, House brings a wealth of experience from his previous role at the Institute for Justice, where he litigated constitutional cases in federal and state courts. Notably, he successfully defended families' educational-choice rights, including West Virginia's education savings account program, in various state high courts.
Before joining FIRE in September 2023, House was an attorney at the Institute for Justice, where he fought abusive municipal-code enforcement and litigated constitutional cases. His impressive career has earned him recognition, such as being named one of Forbes' '30 Under 30' in law and policy in 2017. He is a graduate of The George Washington University Law School and currently serves as an adjunct professor there, coaching moot court teams. House is also pursuing a master's of divinity at Virginia Theological Seminary and is a postulant for the priesthood in the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia.
In his new role at FIRE, House writes amicus briefs in cases involving free expression. He is a member of the California and Nevada bars and previously clerked for the Honorable Michael Cherry on the Supreme Court of Nevada. House's experience fighting for free expression and defending constitutional rights will undoubtedly be an asset to FIRE.
When he's not working, House enjoys rock climbing, running, and spending time with his wife and daughters in Falls Church, Virginia.
