**Job Announcement: Senior Project Officer in Connected Neighbourhoods Team with East Lothian Council**
In an exciting opportunity, a Senior Project Officer role is available within the Connected Neighbourhoods team, working in collaboration with East Lothian Council. This role focuses on active travel infrastructure development, aiming to create healthier places and happier lives for everyone.
Based within the geographical area, the role requires regular travel to East Lothian Council offices and either Edinburgh or Glasgow hubs. The successful candidate will be embedded within East Lothian Council, working in partnership with external organizations and across council departments to align policy objectives and identify opportunities for investment in active travel projects.
Key responsibilities include supporting the planning and delivery of active travel interventions, providing expert guidance to ensure walking, wheeling, and cycling are integrated into strategies, programs, and projects, and facilitating a strategic approach to active travel infrastructure development and delivery in East Lothian. The role also involves assisting with active travel policies and proposals related to planning and pipeline projects in the council.
Candidate requirements include experience in at least one relevant area such as transport planning, land use planning, urban design, traffic engineering, or sustainable transport project delivery. Strong project management skills, the ability to work collaboratively across multiple partners and stakeholders, and independent work capabilities are essential. Knowledge of the active travel funding context in Scotland is important.
