Political Engagement in Neusser Nordstadt: Joannis Douvartzidis' Plans to Enhance the Beauty of "His" Nordstadt

On June 8, from 10 am to 1 pm, Rolf Douvartzidis, a CDU member and a long-time resident of the North End, will be stationed at the Wolberobrunnen corner Further Street/Wolberostreet, where he will be available to discuss his comprehensive plans for revitalizing the North End economy and community.

At the event, children will be able to enjoy face painting while adults engage in discussions about Douvartzidis' vision for the area.

Douvartzidis' plans centre around three main areas: supporting local businesses, expanding apprenticeships and skill development, and addressing community well-being.

In terms of local businesses, Douvartzidis aims to prioritize and invest in small and locally owned businesses, recognizing them as the backbone of the North End’s economic vitality. He plans to introduce targeted incentives, grants, and funding programs to help local entrepreneurs expand and innovate, ensuring economic resilience.

To foster collaboration, Douvartzidis envisions the creation of cooperative networks and marketplaces where local businesses can collaborate, share resources, and attract customers together.

In the realm of apprenticeships and skill development, Douvartzidis plans to expand opportunities, especially for youth and marginalized groups. He envisions partnerships with tradespeople, artisans, and established businesses to create mentorship and training pipelines that align with local economic needs. By integrating apprenticeships with broader career pathways, he aims to reduce youth unemployment and stimulate sustainable economic growth.

Addressing community well-being is another crucial aspect of Douvartzidis' plans. He plans to implement community-based mental health programs that offer counseling, support groups, and wellness activities. He emphasizes creating inclusive community spaces and events that foster social connections, reducing isolation and building a stronger sense of belonging.

In addition, Douvartzidis plans to promote policies that encourage healthy work-life balance, flexible work arrangements, and support for caregivers, targeting the root causes of burnout.

Douvartzidis, who has been active in the steel industry for around 30 years, also plans to offer a lecture series on topics such as burnout, depression, and loneliness. He is also taking steps to ensure safety in the North End, such as proposing the installation of better street lighting and offering a free phone number for people walking alone at night.

Citizens of the North End are invited to attend and participate in the discussion, sharing their own concerns and wishes about the area's future. Douvartzidis is currently responsible for global purchasing and sales at a medium-sized company in the steel industry. He was born in the North End and lives there with his wife and five-year-old daughter.

Douvartzidis has been active in local affairs, sitting on the North End District Council and the city council for structural change, economy, and employment. He is also a trainer at SVG Weissenberg and an active member of the Sappeur-Corps Neuss-Furth.

Douvartzidis is in coordination with the Initiative Circle board regarding the revival of the working group on the economy, which dissolved last year. He is committed to working with the community to create a thriving, resilient North End.
