Park University designates Yira Brimage as Head of Gilbert (Ariz.) Campus Operation
Yira Brimage Takes the Helm at Park University's Gilbert Campus
Yira Brimage, an accomplished higher education leader with a wealth of experience in student affairs, academic support, and administrative leadership, has been appointed as the Vice President of Park University's Gilbert (Ariz.) Campus, effective from November 15, 2021.
Brimage began her career in higher education at Arizona State University (ASU), where she spent nine years working in undergraduate admissions for various campuses and student affairs for the ASU East (now Polytechnic) Campus. Her dedication and commitment to student success led her to take on diverse roles in Arizona's educational institutions.
Over the years, Brimage has held key positions in various universities and colleges across Arizona. She spent 14 years with Maricopa Community Colleges, where she held positions such as Vice President of Student Affairs at Phoenix College (2010-14), Associate Dean of Enrollment Services (2000-05), Dean of Student Affairs (2005-09), and Acting Vice President of Student Affairs (2009-10) at Scottsdale Community College.
In her most recent role, Brimage served as Vice President of Student Affairs and Engagement at Pima Community College's downtown campus in Tucson for nearly four years (August 2014 to June 2018). Prior to this, she was the principal and owner of Brimage Consulting in Tucson, Ariz.
Brimage's extensive experience in higher education is reflected in her responsibilities, which include academic programming, market development, community relations, fundraising, enrollment growth, student services, student academic support, student engagement, and athletic program development and growth.
In her new role as Vice President, Brimage will be responsible for leading the strategic growth and operations of the Park University's Gilbert Campus. She is also a member of Park University's executive leadership team.
Brimage's commitment to diversity and inclusion is evident in her work. She has been active in the Tucson community, serving as a liaison with the Tucson Urban League and Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and as a board member with the University of Arizona Campus Christian Center, Wesley Fontera, Paiute Neighborhood Center in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Chandler-Gilbert (Ariz.) Arc.
Brimage's academic achievements are impressive. She earned a Master of Education degree in educational leadership and policy studies from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and communications from Arizona State University. Her dissertation at Northern Arizona University is on "Latina Leadership in Community College."
Currently, Brimage is working to earn her Doctorate of Education degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University, with an expected graduation in Spring 2022.
In addition to her work in education, Brimage Consulting specializes in working with educational, health care, and small businesses to prepare their workforces with competency-based skill development. Brimage is also a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission.
With her extensive experience, academic credentials, and commitment to student success and diversity, Brimage is well-equipped to lead Park University's Gilbert Campus into a new era of growth and success.
