Parents' Guide on Assisting Children with Career Selection within Employment Industry

Every first Thursday of the month, parents in Solingen, Remscheid, and Wuppertal can join a digital parent evening to receive guidance on supporting their children's career and study choices at the secondary school level II.

These informative sessions are conducted by Mrs. Gronau from the Youth Employment Agency (Jugendberufsagentur). The expert advisors will provide valuable insights into various aspects of career and study options, including university of applied sciences or university, company-based apprenticeships, and dual study programmes.

The digital parent evenings offer a comprehensive overview of different pathways available for students. Topics to be covered include transition options between A-levels and apprenticeship or study, trial study – a combination of an apprenticeship with a study and a master craftsman training – and dual study, which combines an apprenticeship with a study.

Parents will also learn about special training programmes for A-level graduates and media that can support career choice. The advisors will be more than happy to discuss individual questions and provide advice on apprenticeship, study, or plan B during the digital parent evening.

To register for the digital parent evening, parents can email [email protected] or call the career information centers in Solingen under the number 0212 / 2355 - 290 and Wuppertal under 0202 / 2828 - 460.

The next digital parent evening will take place on Thursday, July 4th at 7:00 PM. Parents are encouraged to ask questions during the event and discuss individual questions with the experts afterwards.

For those needing immediate guidance, the career and study advisors offer a hotline service. In Solingen, parents can contact the career guidance hotline at 0212 / 2355 - 345 and email [email protected]. In Remscheid, the number to call is 02191 / 4606 - 345 and the email address is [email protected]. In Wuppertal, the hotline number is 0202 / 2828 - 345 and the email address is [email protected]. The hotline is available from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

By attending these digital parent evenings or contacting the career guidance hotline, parents can ensure they are well-informed and equipped to support their children in making the best career and study choices.
