Panasonic Celebrates 16 Honorary Wins at Kids Witness News Awards Ceremony

In a celebration of youthful creativity and media skills, the annual Kids Witness News (KWN) awards ceremony took place in Hanoi on August 9. Over 200 guests, including student filmmakers, school representatives, parents, artists, and industry professionals, gathered to honour the winners of this Panasonic-sponsored competition.

The event marked a significant milestone for Panasonic Vietnam, as they were recognized for setting the record as the "Organisation that initiated and successfully planted one million trees in the shortest time" on March 18. As part of their commitment to education and social responsibility, Panasonic took a step to contribute to a green Vietnam by organizing a tree planting programme to plant and donate 10,000 trees for the Thai Thuy Wetland Nature Reserve (Thai Binh) on March 8.

In the 10-12 age group, the film Con khong phai la Tich Chu (I'm not Tich Chu) by the Little Dreamers team from Archimedes Dong Anh Inter-level School won the first prize. On the other hand, the Gems team (from Yen Hoa High School and Quang Trung High School) took the top spot in the 13-18 age group with their film Trao (Give).

Trao is a moving work that explores the theme of communication and emphasizes the importance of sharing, showing affection, and strengthening bonds between people, especially in relationships with loved ones. The winning film tells a story about a boy's change and growth in showing love and care for his family, which is based on a true story.

The filmmaking course was a notable activity during KWN, where more than 70 young filmmakers learned professional filmmaking under the guidance of renowned Vietnamese directors and actors. After a month of learning and hands-on experience, the young filmmakers made their own films, which were judged by an expert panel.

People's Artist Lan Huong, a member of the judging panel, has been a part of KWN for four seasons and was impressed with the creative filmmaking mindset of the students. For the 2025 edition of KWN, more than 200 scripts were received from over 400 students.

Nguyen Tran Quan from the Little Dreamers team expressed delight and pride in winning the first prize. Taka Fujino, general director of Panasonic Vietnam, emphasized the importance of education in their social responsibility initiatives, with KWN as a key focus.

The winning filmmaking teams from each age category will have the opportunity to interact with other teams from all over the world at the KWN Global Summit, which will be held online in October of this year. This international event is a testament to the global reach and impact of the Panasonic-sponsored KWN competition.
