Unleashing Creativity: A Peek into Growth Point, Novorossiysk
Over three hundred eighty thousand kids in Kuban attend supplementary learning institutions for their education.
Stepping into the vibrant heart of Novorossiysk, we find ourselves at the "Growth Point," where the summer creative marathon is in full swing.
Recently graduated from an art school, Alyona Berezhnova, now engages in teaching, imparting her knowledge not just to her peers but to younger students as well. She's sure that her love for children would lead her profession into the realm of education, and she's already honing her skills to effectively communicate and present information to them.
"Kids are a joy to be around, and learning from them is as enlightening as teaching them. We teach not only children but also those with special needs. It's fascinating to observe their artistic acumen bloom," says Alyona, the art teacher at the Growth Point center, who is also a student at School No. 26 in Novorossiysk.
As part of the "Youth and Children" national project, Growth Point centers in Novorossiysk continue their dynamic work in the summer. The centers offer a mix of creative and educational lessons. There's a unique "Park of Project Technologies" where they delve into 3D modeling, architectural model development, basics of artificial intelligence, and industrial design.
"Watercolor sketching is our most popular module in industrial design. It's an amazing outlet for creative expression, letting us visualize our ideas vividly. And guess what? Currently, our students are learning watercolor sketching from the girls!" exclaims Svetlana Berezhnova, head of the Growth Point center in Novorossiysk.
All told, there are 605 Growth Point centers in the region, offering additional education to nearly 277,000 children. During the summer, these centers transform into school camps, offering not just relaxation but also new opportunities for learning.
"Through Growth Point, we aim to introduce children to the latest technologies, yet never forget traditional aspects like drawing and computer graphics. We blend the old with the new, engaging children in innovative and creative ways," says Nina Sas, director of School No. 26 in the Yeisk District.
School No. 26 boasts two specialized classrooms for natural science and technological subjects. Since last year, students have been utilizing cutting-edge equipment, including sets for chemical experiments and robotics, creating an atmosphere conducive for practical work.
"Exploring the various microbes found on different surfaces would be fascinating. We'd love to learn more about it. Fortunately, we now have the chance," shares 5th grader Kamila Lysenko.
Over the past decade, the number of children attending additional education organizations in Kuban has steadily increased by 76,000. Currently, 380,000 schoolchildren are engaged in clubs and sections across the region.
