Opposition to Embarrassment or Degradation
In the city of Recklinghausen, a new initiative has been launched to combat bullying in schools, named "STOP! BULLYING! Not on Our Watch!". This campaign, founded by Anja Hollstein, a mother of a child who was a victim of bullying, and trauma specialist Anna Pein, aims to address the issue of bullying and ensure that students feel safe and supported.
The initiative is part of the Recklinghausen Association "Help for Injured Children's Souls e.V." and is supported by numerous celebrities, including Daniel Kreutzer, Ursula Strunk, Prashant Jaiswal, Enkelson, Christian Fandrey, and Farah. It is also sponsored by the Mayor of the City, Thomas Geisel.
The main prize for the competition is the implementation of the concept in a short film with students and prominent actors, to be directed by Ingmar Hunzelder. Contributions can be submitted by email to [email protected] before June 30th. A jury will meet during the summer holidays to select a winner, who will be announced at the end of August.
All participating classes and teams will win a dance workshop, and a duplicate of the short film will be given to all participating schools. The project is calling on the 54 secondary schools in the city to engage with the topic of "bullying in schools" and develop a strategy together.
The initiative is focusing on finding solutions for dealing with bullying, helping victims, and preventing it from starting. It also encourages bystanders, school staff, and peers to actively intervene and support victims of bullying. The campaign aims to cultivate a culture of kindness, respect, and acceptance among students to reduce incidents of bullying based on differences such as appearance, race, gender, or ability.
The "STOP! BULLYING! Not on Our Watch!" initiative also provides resources for schools to implement effective anti-bullying policies and programs. It offers tools, training, and support to help schools create a safe and supportive environment for all students.
The self-help group meets on the first Monday of every month at 7 p.m. in the rooms of the parish community of St. Bruno, Kalkumer Straße 60. Anja Hollstein has also founded a self-help group for affected parents. Prior registration and a confidential initial conversation are desired. Contact details can be found at [email protected] or 0178-4554447.
According to Anja Hollstein, bullying exists in almost every school, but is often ignored by teachers due to time constraints. The initiative seeks to create safer schools by uniting the school community in the fight against bullying, ensuring that no one feels marginalized or threatened while at school.
Bonus and special prizes include tickets for the DEG and Fortuna. The initiative's ultimate goal is to raise awareness, promote intervention, foster inclusivity, provide resources, and empower youth to take an active role in preventing bullying.
