NCERT Offers Free Online Courses for Classes 11 and 12
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is set to offer free Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for students of classes 11 and 12 through the SWAYAM platform, starting from May 1, 2025.
These courses aim to bridge learning gaps and provide equitable access to quality educational resources across the country. The courses can be accessed via the SWAYAM website (swayam.gov.in) or through the official SWAYAM mobile app.
Students can enroll for the courses free of cost. The enrollment period begins on April 16, 2025, and the courses end on September 15, 2025. During this period, students can study the course content and complete all required activities, which include interactive video lectures by experienced educators, printable reading material for offline study, self-assessment tests like quizzes and assignments, and online discussion forums for resolving doubts and fostering collaborative learning.
The courses for Class 11 include Accountancy (Part-I), Biology (Parts I & II), Business Studies (Part-I), Chemistry (Parts I & II), Economics (Part-I), Geography (Parts I & II), Mathematics (Parts I & II), Physics (Parts I & II), Psychology (Parts I & II), and Sociology (Part-I). Similarly, the courses for Class 12 include Biology (Part-I), Business Studies (Part-I), Chemistry (Part-I), Economics (Part-I), English (Part-I - APPEAR), Geography (Parts I & II), Mathematics (Part-I), Physics (Parts I & II), Psychology (Part-I), and Sociology (Part-I).
The exam registration window is September 7-9, 2025. Students who successfully complete the final exam will receive certificates. The final exam dates are September 10-15, 2025.
NCERT has been designated as the National Coordinator for developing and disseminating school-level MOOCs (Classes 9-12) through SWAYAM.
