Park University has been making headlines across various sectors, showcasing its dynamic community and achievements. Susan Keim was recently interviewed on KSHB-TV, discussing the ongoing tension between the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and the Board of Public Utilities.
In the realm of academics, Park University's Women's Golf Program has earned a notable recognition. Although specific historical and individual achievements are yet to be fully documented, the team has been honoured with WGCA All-American Scholar Honours. Four golfers from Park University were recognised as WGCA All-American Scholars in an older Instagram post, reflecting the team's commitment to both academic excellence and golfing prowess.
Park University has also been recognised in the business world. The September issue of Ingram's featured the university as part of the Ingram's 250 list. Camille Cook, the director of library services, and Danielle Theiss, former director of library, academic and career success services, authored the book "The Small to Mid-Size Academic Library: Collaborations and Outreach".
The university's International Center for Music has also been in the spotlight, receiving highlights in Kansas City magazine and hosting upcoming concerts. The Parkville Symphonic Band will host a concert on Nov. 10 to benefit the Pirate Pantry, while the International Center for Music Concert: Park ICM Orchestra is scheduled for Dec. 7.
In the field of research, Yang Sun, Ph.D., co-authored "Telehealth Strategies and Workforce Support in Applied Behavior Analysis Services During a Pandemic", and Monica Brannon, Ph.D., authored an article on "Uranium Mining Remediation, Environmental Assessment and Bureaucratic Violence Environmental Sociology".
Park University has also been actively involved in community events. Greg Plumb provided comments for a story published in The Kansas City Star on Oct. 11 regarding a Platte County town hall event. Harris was interviewed on KMBZ-FM on Oct. 29 regarding political discourse and civility, and for stories that aired on WDAF-TV on Oct. 29 related to Missouri's proposed Amendment 3.
Brittanie Propes, a Parkville city official, was featured in the Mid-Continent Public Library's "Nice to Meet You" series on Oct. 8. Jose Madrid was named to the Great Bend Tribune's "20 Under 40" list in October.
In the world of technology, Joshua Lewis and his Updown Nightlife app were acquired by BarGlance in a $5 million deal on Oct. 17. John Hamilton, Ph.D. (emeritus) and Tamera Jenkins, Ph.D. co-authored the third edition of Community Justice.
On the academic front, SmartyPal.com ranked Park University No. 19 on its "30 Best Online Healthcare Management Degree Programs" list. Lt. Gen. Robert Skinner, a Park University alumnus, retired as the director of the Defense Information Systems Agency, and a story about his retirement was published in SIGNAL on Oct. 3.
David Jackson, another Park University alumnus, was appointed as the chief of police in Englewood, Colo., and will begin his duties on Nov. 12. An international buffet will be served at the International Festival on Nov. 22, featuring foods from each continent. Park University will host its annual International Festival on Nov. 22, with upcoming events including the Parkville Symphonic Band Concert on Nov. 10 and the International Festival on Nov. 22.
