New Student Dormitory Launched in Almaty
In an effort to address the shortage of student housing, the state has significantly strengthened measures over the past few years. This has led to the construction of over 400 new dormitories across the country, thanks to the involvement of private contractors and investors.
One such new dormitory, a four-story building with 12 apartments on each floor, is set to open its doors on September 1 in Almaty. Each apartment in this modern complex has two bedrooms, accommodating four students each. The new dormitory is fully equipped with a modern kitchen, refrigerator, washing machine, shower, and toilet.
To further support students, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the RK and the Akimat of Almaty have opened a situational center at the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University. This center aims to provide assistance to students who were uninformed or missed the opportunity to secure a dormitory room.
The situational center, located in the university building at 142, Bogenbai Batyr Street, has 10 telephone lines capable of handling student inquiries simultaneously. It is equipped with 10 workstations, each fitted with modern computers, communication tools, and access to digital databases.
Minister of Science and Higher Education of the RK, Sayasat Nurbek, stated that the center will serve as a support point for students who were unable to secure a place in a dormitory. The center's main purpose is to offer students a single point of contact for reporting dormitory-related issues or requests, coordinate prompt responses from residential life staff or facility maintenance, and support students with guidance on dorm rules, regulations, and resources.
Safety measures have been given special attention in the new dormitory. It is equipped with a fire safety system, ensuring the well-being of its residents. The center at the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University, while not providing direct search results detailing its operations, is expected to operate similarly as a support hub to enhance student living conditions and respond to situational needs in the dormitories.
At Narxoz and Satbayev University, students can independently choose a room in the dormitory through digital platforms that each university has implemented. In extreme necessity, 55 reserve rooms have been prepared in collaboration with universities.
For precise information about the center—such as contact details, staff roles, or services offered—it is recommended to contact the university directly, either through their official website or student housing office. This approach aligns with recommendations for obtaining accurate and current details on student housing support services.
- Students interested in enhancing their home-and-garden skills or education can take advantage of the digital platforms implemented by Narxoz and Satbayev University, which allow students to choose a room in the dormitory independently.
- To complement the improved lifestyle of students, the situational center at the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University offers support for those who still need assistance in understanding dorm rules, regulations, and resources, as well as reporting and resolving dormitory-related issues.
