Macron Warns: Europe's Democracy at Risk of Chaos in a Decade
French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed grave concerns about the state of democracy in Europe. He warned that without proper protection, the continent could descend into chaos within a decade.
Macron lamented the degeneration of public discourse into hate-filled debates against the ruling class, largely driven by social media. He noted the return of war in various forms, including cyberattacks and information manipulation.
The President also highlighted internal threats to democracy, stating that Europe must appreciate science, culture, and education to secure its democratic order. He announced that Europe is forming as a military power for the first time to defend its territory and values.
Macron's stark warning underscores the challenges facing European democracies. If Europe fails to protect its democratic institutions, it risks becoming a continent dominated by conspiracy theorists and extremists.
