Local primary school, Ev. Grundschule Löhne-Obernbeck, honored as a "Healthy School"

Löhne-Obernbeck Primary School praised as a model of "Healthy Education"

The Ev. Grundschule Lohne-Obernbeck has been honoured with the "Healthy School in the Wittekindskreis" award, in recognition of its commitment to promoting health, healthy recipes, and social training among its students. This prestigious award was presented by Renata Lleshi, an employee of the district health department, and sports scientist Pascal Kramer.

Schools across the district, including the Elisabeth-von-der-Pfalz-Berufskolleg in Herford, the Grundschule in Westerenger, and the Erich-Kaestner-Gesamtschule with its locations in Buende and Kirchlengern, have also been recognised this year for their efforts in health promotion.

The "Healthy Schools" program, supported by the district health department for nine years, offers schools assistance in implementing health promotion, health insurance, and prevention activities. Schools that implement at least three health-promoting measures and one measure for the health of teaching staff during the project period can receive a certificate honoring them as a "Healthy School."

This initiative is particularly beneficial for students during stressful learning phases, as it equips them with exercises that improve coordination, concentration, learning ability, and motivation. Pascal Kramer, a sports scientist and trainer in the "link moves" program, was involved in the certification of Ev. Grundschule Lohne-Obernbeck.

Health promotion is a central prerequisite for successful learning, personal development, and social participation. Schools play an important role in teaching children and young people about the importance of health and taking care of it.

For schools interested in joining the "Healthy Schools" program for the current school year, information can be obtained from the business office of the health conference or from project leader Renata Lleshi, who can be contacted at 05221 13-2419 or via the school's website. An overview of contact points in the Herford district that advise on "growing up healthily and teaching healthily" can also be found in the program.

The Wittekind-Gymnasium, awarded the "Healthy School in the Wittekindskreis" award in 2025, is another example of a school that has successfully integrated health promotion into its curriculum.

In conclusion, the Ev. Grundschule Lohne-Obernbeck's recognition as a "Healthy School in the Wittekindskreis" is a testament to its dedication to the holistic development of its students. The school's commitment to health promotion not only benefits its students but also sets a positive example for other schools in the district.
