JKLU Launches 'My City, My Lab' Ideathon for Students to Tackle Local Issues with Global Significance

JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU) has launched the annual 'My City, My Lab' Ideathon, inviting students of classes 10, 11, and 12 to tackle local issues with global significance. The competition, which closes on October 5, encourages young innovators to propose actionable ideas aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The winners will be celebrated at a ceremony on the JKLU campus in Jaipur on December 21.

The Ideathon provides a platform for students to apply their knowledge to real-world problems, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork. Teams of 3 to 5 members are required to submit their proposed solution to a local problem and the related SDG at registration. Last year's top winners included Chinmaya International Residential School, D.A.V. Model School, and Sparkling Mindz Global School. This year, schools like Jaipur Public School, Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, and St. Anselm's Pink City School have registered, aiming to address local challenges such as waste management, water scarcity, renewable energy, and education quality, corresponding to SDGs like Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), and Quality Education (SDG 4). Following preliminary submission, JKLU faculty will guide selected teams through workshops and the final online project submission process, culminating in a jury round.

The competition offers substantial rewards, with the first, second, and third positions receiving Rs 1,00,000, Rs 75,000, and Rs 50,000 respectively. By participating in the 'My City, My Lab' Ideathon, students gain a deeper understanding of local issues while considering global perspectives, preparing them to be problem solvers and community leaders.
