Investment Secured by Equilibrium; Education Initiatives completes takeover of Open Door
Equilibrium, a carbon project developer founded by Siddhanth Jayaram in 2001, has raised $3 million in a seed funding round. The funding was provided by Kalaari Capital, Peak XV Partners, and Avaana Capital. The funds will be utilised to expand eight pipeline projects across nine states, covering 120,000 hectares of land and engaging over 150,000 smallholder farmers.
These nature-based solutions, including agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, mangrove restoration, and biochar, help sequester carbon, boost farmer incomes, and convert agricultural and biomass waste into valuable products.
Meanwhile, Educational Initiatives (Ei), a K12 learning software platform, has completed the acquisition of Open Door Education. Open Door, founded in 2013, partners with schools to help students revisit and master core concepts through questions and practice modules. The terms of the transaction between the two companies were not disclosed.
The acquisition aims to unite the complementary strengths in diagnostic assessments and thinking-focused evaluation to expand the transformative impact across schools in India and overseas. However, no new information about the funding details for either company was provided.
Ei offers solutions like Ei ASSET, Ei Mindspark, and Ei CARES for measuring and improving learning outcomes across grades and geographies. Open Door, on the other hand, focuses on helping students grasp core concepts through its innovative learning methods.
Despite no new information about the acquisition of Open Door Education by Educational Initiatives or any new pipeline projects, land coverage, or farmer engagement numbers for Equilibrium, both companies are poised to make a significant impact in their respective fields.
