After his chief year, he will join the Samaritan Family Health Network in Watertown, NY.
Adam Blaine, MD, hailing from Wyoming, will lead the Internal Medicine Residency. Dr. Blaine is committed to empowering internal medicine residents to build purposeful careers rooted in clinical excellence. He also serves as CRQS chief, focusing on quality improvement, patient safety, and expanding engagement with rural and global health.
Other new Chief Residents include Sarah Rusnak, MD, who will be a faculty member in Hospital Medicine, and her advice for the new chiefs is to use the team to help with challenges. Victoria Mattick, MD, originally from Rochester, NY, and a graduate of both SUNY Upstate Medical University and Albany Medical College, is excited about mentoring residents, connecting residents to program leadership, promoting an inclusive learning space, and continuously developing the residency program.
Taylor Cox, MD, who will be an academic primary care doctor at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, offers advice for the next Chief Residents to remember that 95 percent of the schedule is working perfectly when you hear about the 5 percent of issues. Piotr Karmilowicz's, MD, advice is to foster and build relationships with every resident as ultimately your job is to advocate for them.
Anima Ghimire, DO, will be a Rheumatology fellow at the medical center, and her advice is that having multiple chiefs allows for spreading the work and never feeling alone in important decision-making. King Mazumdar, MD, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will be a Cardiology fellow at the medical center. Margaret Kruithoff, MD, mostly from central Maine but spent her childhood in the Washington D.C. metro area, is most looking forward to the role of clinician educator.
Finally, Joseph Galgano, MD, who graduated from SUNY Upstate Medical University, is excited about making the wards and clinic a fun place to learn. Erin Good, MD, who will be a faculty member at the Med-Peds residency clinic, Culver Medical Group, and the Complex Care Center, offers advice about wellness to find active things that fill your cup, both at work and not at work, and to sprinkle wellness in many places.
