Industry-Academia Gathering at VELS HR Conclave 2025 Aims to Mold Future Workforce
The Vels Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS) in Chennai recently played host to the VELS HR Conclave 2025. This prestigious event, organised by the university's Career Advancement Cell, brought together HR professionals, industry experts, faculty members, and students for a meaningful engagement.
Dr. Preethaa Ganesh, Vice President of the VELS Group of Institutions, inaugurated the event. The theme of the HR Conclave 2025 was "Campus to Corporate: Preparing the Next Generation Workforce".
A major highlight of the event was a panel discussion on skill development, moderated by Mr. Charles Godwin from Zoho Corporation. The discussion featured HR leaders from TCS, Schwing Stetter, HCL GUVI, and Renault Nissan. They emphasized the importance of skills such as artificial intelligence, automation, Six Sigma, and data-driven technologies in enhancing workforce readiness by aligning academic learning with industry needs and technological advances.
The panelists introduced the 'VIBE' concept as a strategic framework to bridge the campus-corporate gap. VIBE stands for Vision, Integrity, Best Practices, and Engagement.
VISTAS, a member of the Vels Group of Institutions, boasts a vibrant academic community of over 15,000 students and more than 700 faculty members. It offers over 100+ undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs across diverse disciplines. The university also provides specialized industrial training programs in engineering and other technical education.
The university's commitment to quality and future-readiness was evident in its receipt of University status by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. VISTAS is NAAC A++ accredited and holds UGC 12(B) status.
The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Vels University is ranked 64th nationwide. Moreover, over 100 students from Vels University secured placements in top multinational corporations.
