Exploring Careers of the Future: COACHING4FUTURE Program comes to Donaueschingen and Villingen-Schwenningen
The COACHING4FUTURE educational program, initiated by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation gGmbH, aims to help young people navigate the complex world of careers, particularly in MINT (Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Technology) professions. Through the use of an interactive truck named DISCOVER INDUSTRY, the program offers hands-on experiences to students in schools across Baden-Württemberg.
The mobile industrial world DISCOVER INDUSTRY provides practical insights into various MINT professions. In collaborating with organizations such as the Arbeitgeberverband SÜDWESTMETALL and the Regionaldirektion der Bundesagentur für Arbeit, the initiative seeks to support the development of the next generation of skilled professionals in these fields.
During the first week of June, the truck stops in the Schwarzwald-Baar district at two schools: the Realschule Donaueschingen from Monday to Wednesday and the Kaufmännische Schule 1 in Villingen-Schwenningen on Thursday and Friday. Registered school classes can attend the exhibition, where they can try out technologies like 3D scanning, robotics, and artificial intelligence, all of which are critical in modern industry.
Young coaches will guide students through the digitalized product creation process, highlighting the range of professions involved. They will also offer tips for career planning. To best prepare for an editorial visit to the DISCOVER INDUSTRY truck, prior registration is recommended.
During their tour through the truck, students will emulate the roles of founders who want to bring their own invention to market, learning the necessary steps using tablets at five workstations. Throughout their journey, they will create digital prototypes, examine workpieces and materials, operate industrial robots, and learn about intralogistics. To further explore high-tech applications, students can interact with augmented reality and AI-assisted programs, assembling a PC or maintaining a chainsaw with data glasses.
The upstairs workshops of the DISCOVER INDUSTRY truck allow students to delve deeper into selected fields. Coaches guide them in training a visual AI system, creating an AI-assisted assembly guide, and learning about career opportunities and paths to a technical career.
For journalists interested in covering the event, the interactive formats offer plenty of opportunities for soundbites and photo motifs. The coaches Marco Umstaetter (Chemical Laboratory Technician), Marcel Michel (M.Sc. Evolutionary Biology and Ecology), and Maria Karg (M.Sc. Technical Biology) are available for questions and interviews. If unable to attend, a follow-up report can be provided. Please register with the press contact at least two days in advance.
