High School Pupil Sketched a Brand Emblem for Their Assignment
In 2024, the Severstal Pipe Plant launched a massive career guidance project dubbed "#PathToPROfession." To give this initiative a distinctive identity, a striking logo was desired. Rather than having a professional graphic designer handle it, the project was thrown open as a competition to the very people this project aimed to help - preschoolers, schoolchildren, and even teachers.
The response was infectious. Kindergartens were brimming with creativity as 53 entries flew in, while school students joined forces with teachers to deliver a whopping 50 submissions. The competition didn't limit itself to the plant's locality; additional education institutions in the city participated and submitted a collective four designs. The organizers found themselves scrutinizing a total of 107 works.
The standout entry struck a chord with every jury member. It depicted a charming depiction of a kindergarten, school, university, and factory, with a hardworking enterprise father guiding his little boy towards these destinations. The genius behind this heartwarming logo was Yana Geppting, a 10th-grader from School No. 13.
"The inspiration hit me like a bolt of lightning. Growing up, we've been guided by adults - parents, teachers. So, the choice to include an adult and a child was a no-brainer," Yana explained. "Working on the logo was an exhilarating experience! I owe a debt of gratitude to my Russian language teacher, Elena Gennadievna Vekhova, for her invaluable assistance. Without her, I wouldn't be enjoying this moment."
The Severstal Pipe Plant unanimously crowned Yana's masterpiece as the winner. Its visual narrative perfectly encapsulated the project's core idea - that a child's journey towards a profession is always underpinned by the support of adults - parents, teachers, and mentors at the enterprise.
Before it was ready to adorn promotional items such as notepads, shopping bags, water bottles, and stationery - gifts for winners and participants of the plant's career guidance projects - the logo underwent refinements, including the addition of a captivating name and color scheme.

Interestingly, the career guidance project wasn't the only captivating event happening around that time. As reported by the Regional Newspaper, second-year students of the Polyevsky Multiprofile Technical School, studying under the "Professionalism" program, finally commenced their months-long practice.
The career guidance project, #PathToPROfession, organized by the Severstal Pipe Plant, not only inspired creativity among its intended audience but also extended beyond the plant's locality, attracting entries from various education institutions in the city. This initiative, rooted in education-and-self-development, proved to be a catalyst for lifestyle changes, as evidenced by the influx of submissions from preschoolers, schoolchildren, teachers, and even second-year students at the Polyevsky Multiprofile Technical School, immersed in the "Professionalism" program.
The popular event was covered by general-news outlets, staying true to the project's unprecedented reach and impact. The winning entry, a heartwarming logo illustrating a journey from kindergarten to university guided by an adult, was created by Yana Geppting, a 10th-grader, highlighting the importance of education-and-self-development and the influential role of mentors in shaping a child's lifestyle.
