High School Improves Performing Arts and Esports Infrastructure
Plainfield High School in Plainfield, New Jersey, has recently completed a $4 million renovation of its auditorium, esports gaming arena, and black box theater. The project, aimed at enhancing the school's fine arts program, has seen the installation of cutting-edge Electro-Voice sound reinforcement systems designed and installed by PureTek Group, a Boonton-based company with a long-standing relationship with Electro-Voice.
At the heart of the auditorium is a sound system that caters to its diverse functions. Seating 1,525 people, the auditorium serves as a hub for school performances, community events, and assemblies. The system includes left-right Electro-Voice EVA line arrays for the main seating area and EVC loudspeakers for balcony fill. The EV team ensured that everything worked correctly in each space through measurement and pre-ordering engineering.
The esports arena, a new addition to the school, features a sound system powered by a four-channel Dynacord V600:4 600W 4-channel amplifier. Three EVID-P6.2 pendant ceiling speakers and EVID-S12.1 compact subwoofers have been installed to deliver crystal-clear audio for intense gaming sessions. To add to the immersive experience, microphones in the auditorium record the crowd's cheers, which are played back live in the esports arena over the pendant speakers.
The black box theater, another new addition to the school's fine arts program, is now equipped for dramatic arts education, professional development, experimental theater, or smaller performance spaces. Two EVC-1122-95B loudspeakers have been wall-mounted to the right and left of the stage, with one Dynacord C1300FDi amplifier powering the system.
