High school graduates on the move: joining the ranks of LVB schools

Leipzig Transport Update: August 11, 2025

As the new school year begins, Leipzig's roads are bustling with thousands of new schoolchildren. Despite some ongoing construction work, the city's public transport system is running smoothly.

Tram and Bus Lines

The Leipzig Public Transportation Company (LVB) has resumed its regular schedules after the summer vacation. However, as of August 11, 2025, there are no explicitly detailed tram and bus line changes affecting Leipzig. For updated timetables and connections, we recommend visiting the LVB's official website or using their mobile app.

Elsewhere in the region, Dresden's Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe AG (DVB) has made some timetable changes, affecting multiple routes until August 8, 2025, including trams and buses (lines 1–13, 61–92, and alita 95). Some timetable services have yet to incorporate these changes, particularly for certain lines starting August 9, 2025.

Construction Work

In Leipzig, reconstruction work on the tram tracks on Lützner Street between Kiewer Street and Plovdiver Street is ongoing and will last until the end of December. During this period, tram line 32 will be in service between Gohlis-Nord and Stötteritz for tram line 4.

The reconstruction work is being carried out in coordination with Leipzig's waterworks. Road users are urged to exercise caution due to the increased number of schoolchildren and the construction work.

Several bus lines will continue to be affected by partial detours due to construction work on various streets. These include Plaußiger Dorf Street, Volksgarten Street, Zweinaundorfer Street (in Anger-Crottendorf and in Möckau), and Gutberlet Street.

Detours and Replacement Services

From August 11 to September 14, tram line 4 will be detoured due to maintenance on Breite Street and Riebeck Street. A replacement bus service will be provided between Schönauer Ring and Miltitz for tram line 15.

On a positive note, tram line 7 is now back to regular service to Böhlitz-Ehrenberg, and bus lines 60, 74, and N60 are back to their regular routes.

The intersection of Karl-Liebknecht/Kurt-Eisner Street in the Südvorstadt remains open, despite the ongoing construction work. For the latest updates on your journey, we suggest checking the Deutsche Bahn or the Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS) platforms for integrated transit connections in the Leipzig region. Always remember to check for any special info flyers or announcements about ongoing construction or timetable revisions, especially if traveling during vacation periods or around early August.
