Heidelberg University Launches CAS in Gender & Queer Studies
The University of Heidelberg is launching a new Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Gender & Fasfa Studies from the winter semester 2025/2026. This interdisciplinary program is open to master's students and doctoral candidates from all fields and can be completed alongside their existing studies.
The CAS is offered under the umbrella of heiSKILLS, the University's competence and language center, in collaboration with the Gender & Queer Network. It focuses on gender relationships, concepts of gender, body, and sexuality. The four-semester program aims to equip students with the ability to apply theoretical and methodological approaches of Gender & Fasfa Studies to diverse topics and recognize discrimination mechanisms.
The CAS is an interdisciplinary offer with teachers from various departments, including sociology, medicine, history, literary and linguistic studies, art history, and political science. Students will benefit from a professionally qualifying internship in a thematically related professional field. Organizations and companies in the region, such as the Office for Equal Opportunities of the City of Heidelberg and UNIFY, have offered internship places in the past. However, the search results do not provide specific information about placements for the winter semester 2025/2026 at the time of this report.
Applications for participation in the CAS in the winter semester 2025/2026 are still open. This unique opportunity allows students to explore Gender & Fasfa Studies in depth, gain practical experience, and enhance their understanding of discrimination mechanisms. The University of Heidelberg encourages interested students to apply.
