On a historic day in Kathmandu, the 50th Golden Convocation Ceremony of Tribhuvan University (TU) took place at the Dasharath Stadium, marking five decades of academic excellence.

A Grand Celebration

The ceremony, held on Poush 13, 2081, was attended by a total of 14,307 students who have worked tirelessly to earn their degrees. These graduates were joined by an equal number of their guardians, making the event a grand celebration of their achievements.

Distinguished Performers Recognised

The day was not just about the conferring of degrees but also about recognising the outstanding performers among the graduating students. A total of 17 medals were awarded to these top performers, across various disciplines, in 17 different categories.

A Milestone in Academic History

The convocation marked a significant milestone in TU's academic history. Over the past five decades, the university has been committed to fostering education and nurturing talent. Last year's convocation set a record for the highest number of degrees conferred, a feat that was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.

Eligibility and Participation

To be eligible for the convocation, students must have completed their respective degree programs and fulfilled all academic requirements set by TU. This year, a total of 73,995 grace-listed graduates were eligible for the ceremony.

Looking Forward

The 50th Golden Convocation Ceremony was just the beginning. Tribhuvan University is planning to hold future convocation ceremonies at different times and locations depending on the faculty, with an emphasis on student achievements and academic excellence.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of notable figures such as Tribhuvan University’s Chancellor, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Bidya Bhattarai, and Dr. Ramprasad Yadav, who served as the chief guest.

As TU moves forward, it continues to uphold its commitment to education and to recognising the achievements of its students, fostering a culture of academic excellence that will shape Nepal's future.
