Fired Up for Small Biz Success in NC!

Woohoo! The North Carolina Community College System is teaming up with Goldman Sachs on the 10KSB revolution,, a program designed to fuel small business growth state-wide! This partnership is part of Goldman's $100 million commitment to revitalize rural communities across the US.

For almost two decades, 10KSB has offered entrepreneurs top-notch, free business education, capital access, and personalized support services to skyrocket their ventures. In 2023, this program expanded in a big way, setting up shop in 20 states' rural areas - and now, North Carolina has hopped on that train!

"Our system is all about supporting small businesses as the lifeblood of North Carolina's economy," says John, VP for Economic Development at the NC Community College System. Teaming up with Goldman means small biz owners, particularly those in rural or underprivileged areas, can benefit from A-list resources via our state-wide college network.

The Small Business Center Network will manage the program. Each day, they're busy hooking up small business owners with the necessary training and resources - partnering with Goldman is a natural extension of their mission, and a super-exciting opportunity to amplify their impact!

The 10KSB experience comes with instruction on vital skills like marketing, negotiating, and effective employee management, allowing participants to craft a personalized roadmap to business success. And once they graduate, they'll be inducted into a national network of other small business masters and alumni.

"Small businesses are the backbone of North Carolina's economy," says national 10KSB director, Anne. "Bringing our program to NC entrepreneurs will give them the tools they need to rock their ventures, and in turn, foster job creation and innovation in their communities!"

Data from rural participants who've already completed the program show some impressive results:

  • Over half of them reported increased revenue,
  • 60% had the guts to create new jobs,
  • 85% felt more resilient,
  • And a huge 68% plan to use the 10KSB network to expand their biz.

Spots in the upcoming NC cohort are being filled now, with applications ending on June 15. The program starts in September and will be conducted in a mix of online and in-person formats. Yay, it's free and fully financed thanks to the Goldman Sachs Foundation!

Whether you're a budding or battle-hardened entrepreneur, the 10KSB initiative promises to arm you with the skills, support, and connections you need to kick results in the rear and turn your dream biz into a reality!
