In a celebration of educational excellence and integration, the VHS Hanau received the prestigious German Continuing Education Award in the category of Integration at the German Continuing Education Day in Berlin. The award ceremony, held on September 19, 2025, recognised the VHS Hanau team's exceptional commitment to basic education, literacy, and the integration of people with refugee and migration backgrounds.
The team was presented with the German Further Education Prize by Uwe Hensel, a board member of the German Further Education Day e.V., a coalition of 27 associations and initiatives from education and business. Collien Monica Fernandes, a moderator and actress, graced the event with her presence to present the award.
Among the attendees was Abdullah Kamandi, a trainee in landscape gardening, who found professional success in Hanau after fleeing Afghanistan. He expressed his gratitude to VHS Hanau for providing him with the opportunities that led to his success.
