Embrace, hug, caress - these acts can foster self-assurance, but what happens when grown-ups misuse the trust and longing for affection of young ones? The interactive theater initiative, "ja-nein-stop!", sponsored by the Volksbank BRAWO Foundation, tackles this intricate problem and delivers top-notch prevention of sexual abuse for 3rd and 4th graders in the regions of Braunschweig, Gifhorn, Peine, Salzgitter, and Wolfsburg.

In present-day Germany, approximately 15,500 instances of child sexual abuse were reported in 2022. Figures concealing the grim reality are far more daunting. The World Health Organization (WHO) approximates that up to one million children and adolescents in Germany have already been subjected to sexual violence by adults. This roughly translates to one to two children in every school class. Consequently, it's vital to advocate for comprehensive prevention and shield children from sexualized violence as effectively as possible, according to a press release from Volksbank BRAWO.

"A massive accolade to this extremely valuable and essential project. With 'ja-nein-stop!', the subject of sexual abuse is communicated to children in a comprehensible yet soothing manner, equipping them with the know-how to seek help when needed. Abuse usually happens in unexpected settings - within familiar circles. That's why it's so crucial to increase awareness and show children how to manage such situations," asserted Frank Sporleder, a school social worker at the Fallersleben Elementary School.
