- 11th - 13th May 2026 (optional overnight stay available)
- 8th - 9th June 2026
Hours: 9:30am - 5:30pm daily
Who's Invited?
- Aspiring leaders aged 21 and above holding a Level 2 or higher qualification in teaching or youth work, or with significant experience working with young people.
- All participants must be able to commit to delivering a six-session Forest School pilot program during training.
- Don't worry; a current First Aid certificate is required before leading Forest School, and we recommend a 16-hour First Aid course with an outdoor focus.
- You don't need a Level 1 Forest School Ethos or Level 2 Assistant certification to join this course. If you've completed Level 2 within the past 18 months, you can "top up" to Level 3 by attending days 6-10. A exclusive discount is available for those who've completed their Level 2 with Suffolk Wildlife Trust within this timeframe.
Cost: £1199
A payment plan is available, but full payment is required prior to the course start date. If you're a school or organization, please reach out for an invoice option.
What to Expect
- Course Overview: AIM Qualifications Level 3 Certificate for Forest School Leaders
- Ten days of intensive, outdoor training focused on Forest School program delivery, learning and development, planning and preparation, practical skills, and the woodland environment.
- Coursework Portfolio: Completion of a portfolio within 12 months of the start date, consisting of five units. These units will cover practical skills, planning and preparation, the woodland environment, delivery, and learning and development. Deadlines for each unit will be provided during the course.
- Forest School Pilot Program: As part of the course, you'll be expected to plan and lead a six-week Forest School pilot program, with a support visit from one of your tutors. In-person support visits will be offered for Suffolk-based participants; out-of-county learners will provide video evidence of their pilot study.
- Mentoring Days: We offer mentoring days to aid navigating the course and developing your leadership skills. Dates will be set during the course.
- Practicing Certification: Although you can lead Forest School sessions after receiving your certificate, we recommend allowing at least 12 months from the start date to ensure proper training and integration of knowledge.
- First Aid Training: To operate safely as a Forest School Leader, a 16-hour First Aid course is recommended (or Forest School Association-guided 16-hour First Aid course for an additional £200).
