Felix Schoeller Photo Award Expands, Honors Axel Sulzbacher and Maximilian Mann
The 'Felix Schoeller Photo Award' has expanded this year, adding two new categories with a prize of 5,000 euros each. The winners include Axel Javier Sulzbacher and Verdiana Albano, while Maximilian Mann's work 'Last Rescue Oberhausen' has received significant recognition.
Axel Javier Sulzbacher took home the 'Sustainability' category for his series 'Green Dystopia', which explores environmental issues. The main prize, endowed with 10,000 euros, went to Maximilian Mann for his work 'Last Rescue Oberhausen'. This series focuses on the Peace Village Oberhausen, providing medical care and hope to children.
Mann, a German photographer with a master's degree in photography, specializes in documentary and portrait photography. He won against stiff international competition from 88 countries. This is not Mann's first accolade; he previously won the 4th German Peace Prize for Photography in Osnabrück in 2018. The city of Osnabrück and Felix Schoeller launched this prestigious award in 2019, celebrating Osnabrück's unique history and Schoeller's connection to photography. The winning series and nominees' works are currently on display at the Osnabrück Museum Quarter until February 22, 2026.
The 'Felix Schoeller Photo Award' continues to recognize and support exceptional photographic talent. This year's winners, Axel Javier Sulzbacher, Verdiana Albano, and Maximilian Mann, have all made significant contributions to the art form, with their works now showcased at the Osnabrück Museum Quarter.
