Wuppertal City Council delegated the administration in 2022 to organize for membership in a coalition against racism. Based on an assessment, three key action points from the coalition's Ten-Point Action Plan were pinpointed and subsequently presented to the city council by Roswitha Bocklage, the head of the department for equality and anti-discrimination. Upon signing the application by Mayor Uwe Schneidewind, the city's membership certificate was received, prompting Wuppertal to take action against racism and boost citizen involvement.

The city's diversity strategy places a strong focus on eliminating racism and fostering diversity within the administration. In the education sector, Wuppertal is well-positioned, with many schools, clubs, and independent providers offering diversity and racism awareness training, according to the administration. The city now aims to improve networking and dissemination of information among these entities. The weeks against racism in March and April saw over 22 events in youth centers, theaters, public spaces, readings, creative competitions, discussions, and workshops, signifying wide-ranging community engagement.

As for addressing racism and promoting diversity, education sector initiatives often focus on creating inclusive curricula, achieving diverse student bodies, and implementing anti-racism training for educators. Community engagement usually involves partnering with local organizations to deliver resources for marginalized populations and developing programs that support underrepresented groups. Collaboration with research institutions to study diversity and racism can supply valuable insights for policy and program development. However, without specific details regarding Wuppertal's strategy, these strategies serve as general guidelines.
