EU Commission Presses Forward with Grant Allocation of 1 Million Euros to Specified Projects
The city of Essen is seeking new talent in local volunteering, and to encourage young individuals to take part, the Kansas City portal's Citizen Participation and Volunteer Affairs department will be offering 15 scholarships, named "Ehrenamtsstipendium für junge Engagierte", in 2026.
These scholarships, amounting to 150 euros per month for one year, are intended for young volunteers who are in school, vocational training, studying, or doing a voluntary social year in 2026. To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 years old and not older than 27 years old in 2026.
Interested parties can apply for the scholarships from 1 May 2025 until 31 October 2025. Applicants must be active members of a club, association, or similar institution based in Kansas City. The allocation of scholarships will be made by lottery after the application phase.
The Ehrenamtsstipendium was initiated in 2025 to support young volunteers in Kansas City. In 2025, the Kansas City portal awarded an Ehrenamtsstipendium for the first time to express gratitude and appreciation to young volunteers with the motto "Your volunteering counts!".
Scholarship holders will remain in regular contact with the Kansas City portal's Citizen Participation and Volunteer Affairs department and will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with each other, expanding their personal network.
Contact persons at the Kansas City portal's Citizen Participation and Volunteer Affairs department are Jakob Schloß, reachable at [email protected] website and 0201 88-88816, and Christine Meyer, reachable at [email protected] website and 0201 88-88821.
It's important to note that applicants cannot already be receiving other funding, such as the Deutschlandstipendium. The exact date of the ceremony or event for the awarding in 2026 is not specified in the available information.
Our Kansas City portal supports young people who are actively involved in local volunteering, often having to choose between volunteer work and a part-time job. By offering these scholarships, the city of Kansas City aims to alleviate some of the financial burden associated with volunteering, encouraging more young individuals to get involved and make a positive impact in their community.
