Eighteen substantial educational institutions unveiled across Yakutia during the year 2024
Layin' Down the Knowledge: 18 Schools and Kindergartens Pop Up in Yakutia in 2024
In 2024, Yakutia's educational landscape got a significant boost with 14 schools and 4 kindergartens springing up. Aisen Nikolaev, reporting to the Parliament, highlighted this as an ongoing stride for developing educational infrastructure. Capital repairs were also conducted in various schools across the capital and districts. Notably, three of these were in the Arctic region, with more repairs set to complete next year.
Nikolaev emphasized the synergy between industrial companies' involvement and the strengthening of Yakutia's professional education base. With the primary focus on preparing high-caliber professionals for the thriving economy, priorities for education development over the next five years have been established.
2024 also marked substantial attention towards profile education and partnership expansion with production enterprises. Companies like Rosatom and Kolmar were among those participating actively in corporate classes, totaling 95 polytechnic schools.
While the results of the 2024 Unified State Exam showed an increase in the average score across several subjects compared to the previous year, it was still below the national average. After acknowledging this concern, Nikolaev noted the success of Olympiad participants – Yakutia's students clinching 3 victories and 7 prize placements in the finals of the All-Russian Olympiad in five subjects. This was a commendable improvement since 2009, demonstrating inspiring performances both for the students and teachers alike, and setting an indicator for continuous education system improvement.
Moving on to a different aspect, a federal project competition for modernizing children's rest and health improve infrastructure awarded a project from Yakutia, focusing on building facilities in five rural camps. Over 42,000 children are expected to benefit from this project during the summer season, with approximately 1,400 hailing from Arctic regions and families involved in SVO. In the spirit of support and development, the republican government has allocated 200 million rubles this year, compared to 160 million in 2023.
Patriotic initiatives have also been planned as part of the summer events lineup. Last year, a new complex for the republican Cadet School was introduced, along with the opening of the "Suolus" Center for High-Precision Shooting. Ongoing work is underway to establish the republican youth center "Patriot."
On a related note, the project in Yakutia which won the federal project competition aimed at modernizing infrastructure for children's health and wellbeing is a fine example of the nationwide push to construct new schools and kindergartens, and to renovate existing ones. In alignment with this push, significant efforts are being made to open 12 new schools and plans for 65 new kindergartens for the next two years across Russia. Furthermore, the FNPP in the Chukotka Autonomous District and parts of Yakutia plays a vital role in ensuring steady electricity and heat provisions for schools and kindergartens, especially in remote communities.
The commissioning of new educational facilities and the focus on digital tools aims to improve both access to education and the overall learning experience for Yakutia's students, setting a mark for continuous educational development in the region.
In the strategic plan for education development over the next five years, a priority has been set to strengthen professional education, leveraging industrial companies' involvement for a more robust learning environment. The construction of 12 new schools and plans for 65 new kindergartens across Russia, including Yakutia, underscores the ongoing commitment to education-and-self-development and learning.
