Education event at Regelschule Bettenhausen: Pupils transform into rescuers for a day

On August 27, 2025, Staatliche Regelschule "Vordere Rhön" in Bettenhausen welcomed students for a special project day focused on first aid. Organised by a group of tenth-graders, Hanna-Lynn Stepper, Elia Greiner, Emma Wellner, and Marlon Stiller, the event aimed to teach students how to react correctly in emergency situations.

The day began with a series of indoor stations where participants learned essential skills such as measuring blood pressure and pulse, applying bandages, and practising correct positioning in emergency situations. Small role-plays involving emergency scenarios were also part of the program, giving students a practical understanding of first aid.

Outside, students had the opportunity to observe emergency vehicles up close during the outdoor station. The German Red Cross Meiningen, the Volunteer Fire Department Bettenhausen, the German Armed Forces Hammelburg with the Wildflecken Company, the Meiningen Dementia Center, and the Barmer all contributed to the success of the project day, providing valuable support and resources.

The project day concluded with a quiz to test the class's knowledge and a certificate ceremony where all participants received a certificate, an emergency plan, and small gifts as mementos. The event not only offered a hands-on learning experience but also raised awareness about the importance of first aid.

With the theme "First Aid - A Task That Saves Lives," the project day was more than just an educational event. It was a chance for students to learn lifesaving skills that they can use in their daily lives and in emergencies. The day was a resounding success, with students leaving with a newfound confidence in their ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
