Durham, Zaporizhzhia Universities Strengthen Ties with Student Exchanges and Collaborative Events
Durham University and Zaporizhzhia National University (ZNU) have strengthened their ties with a series of collaborative events and student exchanges. Representatives from both institutions met in July 2024 to discuss further cooperation, with up to five ZNU students set to study at Durham in the coming autumn.
The partnership, which began in 2021 and will continue until 2024, focuses on sharing best practices and building institutional capacity. In July, Durham welcomed ZNU academics for a week-long visit to explore potential collaborations in history, emerging technologies, and renewable energy. This follows an inward mobility scheme that will see up to five ZNU students in history and biosciences study at Durham in the autumn.
Durham's involvement is part of a broader initiative led by Universities UK (UUK) and the Ukrainian Ministry of Education to support Ukraine's higher education sector. The UK-Ukraine Second International Twinning Conference, held in July 2024, provided an opportunity for Durham and ZNU representatives to discuss further ways to enhance their collaboration.
Durham University's three-year partnership with Zaporizhzhia National University has yielded significant progress, with student exchanges and academic collaborations set to continue. Both institutions look forward to building on these successes and exploring new avenues for cooperation in the future.
