Dubai Municipality Introduces Future Talents Initiative, Aiming to Educate and Prepare 200 Students for the Workforce

Dubai Municipality has expanded its Future Talents summer training programme to include students from high schools, in addition to university and college attendees. This move is part of a broader goal to prepare a future-ready generation capable of contributing to national development.

The programme, which runs for four weeks with daily eight-hour sessions, offers hands-on experience across administrative, technical, and field roles within various municipality departments. It is designed to equip young Emirati talent with critical professional skills relevant to their fields of study, provide practical exposure to municipality operations, and foster professional networks.

Students are assigned to various Dubai Municipality departments according to their academic specializations. The training provided aligns with students' academic fields, offering a mix of theoretical knowledge and real-world application. Last year, the programme trained 60 students from universities and colleges.

The 2025 edition aims to train 200 students, marking an expansion from the previous year’s focus on only higher education students. The initiative's goal is to provide opportunities for young talent to learn and grow, contributing to the development of Dubai Municipality and the nation as a whole.

Abdulla Khalfan, Acting Director of Human Resources at Dubai Municipality, stated that the initiative aims to help young Emirati talent gain critical skills, deepen their understanding of their disciplines, and build professional networks. He emphasized that the programme aligns with Dubai Municipality's commitment to empowering youth across all educational levels.

By integrating academic learning with practical experience, the Future Talents summer training programme helps bridge the gap between education and employment, enhances Emiratization in key sectors, and strengthens the skills pipeline for public and municipal services. The initiative's expansion to high school students demonstrates a commitment to empowering youth early and ensuring a continuous flow of capable, motivated professionals into the national economy.

In conclusion, the Future Talents summer training programme is a significant step towards preparing a future-ready generation that can contribute to national development. By offering practical, hands-on experience tied to students' academic disciplines, the programme is helping to equip young Emiratis with the skills they need to succeed in the evolving labour market.
