Dedicated Trash Pickup Workforce
In the heart of Aschaffenburg, the Comeniusschule has been making strides in promoting a cleaner environment. Class M6, led by their dedicated teacher Jens Junker, dedicated the past school year to the theme of 'Clean Environment and Waste Disposal'.
The students' commitment to this cause was evident as they regularly collected waste from the vicinity of their classroom, discarded by passersby. The waste collection was conducted once or twice a week, and the students were pleased to find that their efforts significantly improved the appearance of their neighborhood.
The waste collected mainly consisted of single-use packaging from fast-food restaurants, highlighting the importance of reducing waste and promoting sustainable practices. The students also found numerous cigarette butts, which are not only unsightly but also contain harmful substances that can pollute water and soil. Cigarette filters disintegrate into microplastics, a concerning issue as these can contaminate soil and water, ultimately entering the food chain and ending up on our plates.
The city of Aschaffenburg expressed their gratitude for the students' committed efforts, presenting them with certificates and a snack. The leaders of the Environmental and Consumer Protection Agency, including Matthias Staab, who is associated with activities within the department, also showed their appreciation. A photo was taken on this occasion, capturing the moment Lena Fleckenstein, Heidi Bolch from the Environmental and Consumer Protection Office, and the students of M6 and their teacher Jens Junker, stood together in celebration of their accomplishments.
The students' hard work paid off as they managed to collect a total of 203 kilograms of waste. This substantial amount demonstrates the impact that small, consistent actions can have on our environment. The collection containers of M6 held the waste, ready to be disposed of responsibly.
The students of class M6 at Comeniusschule have set an inspiring example for their community, showing that even young people can make a significant difference in promoting a cleaner environment. Their dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed, and their efforts will undoubtedly continue to have a positive impact on Aschaffenburg for years to come.
