CII's Model Career Centres Transform Lives, Securing Jobs for Over 1.35 Lakh Youth Amidst COVID-19 Challenges
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has been instrumental in transforming the lives of millions of young job seekers. Through its Model Career Centres (MCCs), CII has provided career counselling to over 4.21 lakh youth and secured employment for 1.35 lakh individuals, presenting a significant opportunity amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 lockdown.
CII MCCs offer a comprehensive range of services, including career assessment, counselling, skills upgradation, and placement opportunities. They cater to various sectors such as e-Commerce, logistics, BPO, and healthcare, providing a lifeline to those stranded in shelter homes. With the addition of the digital platform CII ApnaJob, these centres have scaled up to reach a wider audience.
India, with its large youth population, adds about 12 million young people to its workforce annually. CII MCCs play a crucial role in mapping job skills, assessing candidates, and guiding them to suitable opportunities. However, the challenge remains to create one million jobs every month, given the persistent issue of skill mismatch and unemployability.
CII's commitment to sustainable livelihood opportunities and promotion of entrepreneurship is evident in its impact on over one million youth per annum through skill development initiatives. As the nation continues to grapple with the effects of the pandemic, CII's efforts in providing employment and upskilling opportunities are more vital than ever.
