In honour of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we take a closer look at six women who are making significant contributions at Airbus Helicopters, a division of Airbus. These women, hailing from various horizons, are playing pivotal roles in the production, testing, and certification of helicopters, demonstrating the company's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

At the helm of production and quality management for the H215, H225, H215M, and H225M helicopters is Vanessa Durant. Her role is crucial in ensuring the high-quality standards that Airbus Helicopters is known for.

Natalia Fedortchenko, a materials and processes engineer, is inspired by the opportunity to work with a diverse team and learn every day. Her role at Airbus Helicopters in France involves screening, qualifying, and industrializing coating products for helicopters. She contributes to the implementation of innovative painting processes during the production phase.

Maria Jesus Ruano, an AET for the H160 rear fuse in Albacete, has been with Airbus for 11 years. She is responsible for the Non Conformity Board of the H160, ensuring that any issues are addressed promptly and effectively.

Before becoming a pilot, Esther Beckett worked as an interpreter in English, Italian, and French. Today, she works as an instructor pilot for Airbus Helicopters in North America, specializing in the H125, H130, and H145 helicopters. With flight experience in the US, Canada, and Europe, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role.

Sayo Nishigaki, an airworthiness engineer at Airbus Helicopters Japan, is fascinated by the complexity of Airbus Helicopters' products and the teamwork required to make them possible. Her role involves demonstrating that a product satisfies technical requirements and is safe for use, with a focus on aircraft type certifications such as the H160 and customizations for Japanese and regional customers.

Isabelle Rouxel coordinates the testing activities for Airbus' eVTOL prototype, CityAirbus NextGen. Her work is at the forefront of aviation technology, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the world of helicopters.
