Celebrating 73 Times Achievements: Bremen Recognizes Distinguished High School Grads
In Bremen and Bremerhaven, the final chapter of high school education has been written as students conclude their studies and prepare for the next step in their academic journeys. The Abitur, the qualification for university entrance, has been a significant milestone for over 2,000 students in the region.
The Abitur process in Bremen follows the general German system, with students attending a Gymnasium (academic high school) through Grade 13 and culminating their education with the Abitur exam. This comprehensive examination covers multiple subjects and serves as both a high school graduation certificate and university entrance qualification.
This year, 1,900 students in Bremen and 486 in Bremerhaven were eligible to take the Abitur. In Bremerhaven, 454 students passed the exam successfully, while 1,737 students in Bremen achieved the same feat. The statewide average grade this year is 2.39, with an average of 2.37 in Bremen and 2.45 in Bremerhaven.
Notably, 73 students in Bremen and 59 in Bremerhaven achieved the top grade (1.0), the highest possible mark in the Abitur. These high-achieving students were honoured with a reception in the town hall, a testament to their hard work and dedication. Education Senator Sascha Aulepp (SPD) praised the graduates, expressing his pride in their accomplishments.
As the school year comes to a close today in Bremen and Bremerhaven, students from the rest of the federal states, including Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia, have already started their summer vacations. Meanwhile, students in Lower Saxony are gearing up to follow suit by August 1st.
