Veteran County Administrator Tillmann Lonnes Bids Farewell after Nearly Three Decades of Service

At a heartfelt farewell event held in Nordhalle of Burg Friedestrom, County Administrator Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke expressed gratitude to Tillmann Lonnes for his significant contributions to the Rhein-Kreis Neuss district throughout his almost three-decade tenure.

Lonnes, a Neusser native, began his career with the Rhein-Kreis Neuss in 1996 after completing his legal studies in Freiburg and serving in Leer, Ostfriesland, and London. His impressive resume included a stint as the city's legal director in Neubrandenburg, where he contributed to the development of industrial and commercial areas, the city works, and the energy supply.

Petrauschke commended Lonnes for his adaptability and commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for the people of the Rhein-Kreis Neuss. He praised Lonnes' ability to maintain a broad perspective and exhibited exceptional negotiation skills.

Under Lonnes' leadership, the district witnessed significant developments, including the sponsorship of the Theodor-Schwann-Kolleg from the city of Neuss and its merger with the Archbishop's Friedrich-Spee-Kolleg to create a center for further education in Neuss. He also oversaw the construction of the new archive and the development of Schloss Dyck, benefitting the citizens, as noted by Petrauschke.

In the realm of youth affairs, Lonnes focused on family strengthening and child and youth protection. He championed initiatives like the family festival, the family card, and family-friendly offers. Notably, he recently secured the first plot of land for the planned new construction of the youth office in Korschenbroich.

Petrauschke emphasized Lonnes' dedication to citizen service and proximity to citizens, significantly driving the digitalization of the traffic office. Reflecting on their collaboration, Petrauschke expressed appreciation for having such a knowledgeable, dedicated, and highly respected colleague.

sebastian johnen from Kaarst has assumed the position as Lonnes' successor in the district administration, beginning on February 1st.
