Business school's fifth grade making an appearance
The Freifrau-von-Löwendal Grundschule in Landshut, officially named by the city council on March 19, 2025, will undergo a significant transformation, becoming a four-level economic school. This change has been approved by the Ministry of Education, marking a new chapter for the school.
From the upcoming academic year, Grade 5 will serve as the entry level at the school. To be eligible for admission, students must have a minimum average grade of 2.66 in their transfer or annual report from Grade 4 primary school. This requirement ensures that students are well-prepared for the rigorous curriculum awaiting them.
The economic school, as it will now be known, offers a solid general education, complemented by an in-depth commercial basic education. The school's focus lies in digital work, mathematical-technical knowledge, and revised teaching plans in economics and natural sciences. These areas are central to the school's teaching, providing students with a comprehensive and modern education.
The new Grade 5 has been designed to facilitate a smooth transition from primary school to the economic school. The curriculum covers language, economic and digital education, mathematics, history, politics and society, man-environment-technology, music-aesthetic education, religion or ethics, sports, and various elective subjects.
After-school care will be available for students, ensuring their needs are catered to beyond the classroom. It's worth noting that the option to transfer from other school types also remains available.
The economic school leads to the intermediate school-leaving certificate after Grade 10. Regular offers for admission to Grade 6 as a pre-level, to Grade 7 of the four-level economic school, or to Grade 10 of the two-level form will continue. However, there will be no trial lesson for admission to Grade 5.
